Defending Human Rights for All
Miel y Canela Foundation's mission is to improve the quality of life of low-income and migrant families in the community it serves. Poverty, homelessness, victims of abuse, human trafficking, housing - all issues being guided under the United Nation's Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
"The term “human rights” was mentioned seven times in the United Nation's founding Charter, making the promotion and protection of human rights a key purpose and guiding principle of the Organization. In 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights lay down the principles that brought human rights into the realm of international law. Since then, the Organization has diligently protected human rights through legal instruments and on-the-ground activities." Miel y Canela Foundation's mission is to protect and defend Human rights and to ensure they reflect the minimum standards necessary for people to live with dignity. Human rights give people the freedom to choose how they live, how they express themselves, and what kind of government they want to support, among many other things. Human Rights also guarantees' people the means necessary to satisfy their basic needs, such as food, housing, and education, so they can take full advantage of all opportunities.
